1 · Who you are dealing with

Mailbag Contact Form and Mailbag Pro are made and sold by [LEGAL-ENTITY] (“we”, “us”). You can reach us by email.

Payments are processed by Paddle, who act as the merchant of record for every purchase. Paddle is the seller on your receipt, handles sales tax and VAT wherever you are, and Paddle's own buyer terms apply to the payment alongside these terms.

2 · The free plugin

Mailbag Contact Form is distributed through the WordPress.org plugin directory under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. It costs nothing, is not time-limited, contains no licence check and no lock, and nothing on this page restricts what the GPL grants you.

3 · What a Pro licence buys

Mailbag Pro is also GPL software. A licence is not permission to use the code — the GPL already gives that to everyone who has a copy. The subscription buys:

• updates delivered to your site through the plugin's update channel while the subscription is active;
• support by email, from us;
• the right to those two things for the site the licence is used on.

We say this plainly because suggesting that payment is what makes the software legal to run would be untrue.

4 · One licence, one site, and what counts as one site

A licence covers one production site, together with its staging, development and local copies. Those copies are not second sites, and moving a site to a new domain is not a second site either. Running one licence on separate sites for separate businesses is not covered; if you need several, tell us and we'll sort it out sensibly.

Each installation of Pro reports an installation id, made from a random value stored in your site's database. A copy made from your live site carries the same value, so its staging, development and local copies, and a move to a new domain, count as the same site; a separately installed site counts as another. The id cannot tell a legitimate copy from a second business that started from the same database, so where the count is ever wrong, it is corrected by hand — and you are not locked out of anything while that happens. A licence check that fails, or counts wrongly, leaves the plugin running exactly as it was.

5 · What happens when a subscription ends

Nothing is disabled, removed, degraded or locked. Pro keeps sending entries through the connections you have, the retry queue and alerts keep running, and your data stays. What stops is the delivery of new versions and the right to support. This is also described on the pricing page, and it is a commitment, not a description of the current version.

6 · Your data and the services you connect

The entries your forms collect are stored on your own site, and you are responsible for them as the site's owner. Pro sends entries only to services you connect, using API keys from your own accounts; your agreements with those services govern what they do with the data. We never receive your entries. What does reach us is set out in the privacy policy.

7 · What we do not promise

The software is provided as it is. We don't warrant that it is free of defects, that it suits a particular purpose, or that it runs without interruption alongside every other plugin, theme and mail server — nobody honestly can. Mailbag reports what your mail server and the services you connect tell it; it cannot make another company's system accept a message.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim arising from the software or these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death, personal injury or fraud.

You are responsible for your own backups. That isn't shifting blame: we have no access to your site and cannot restore it.

8 · Acceptable use

Don't use our licence service or this website to attack, overload or probe systems that aren't yours, and don't resell support access. You may, under the GPL, redistribute the code itself.

9 · Changes

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects an active subscription, we'll email the address on the purchase before it takes effect. If you'd rather not continue under the new terms, cancel and we'll refund the unused part of the current period.

10 · Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Denmark, and the Danish courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in.
